    What We Believe

The United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay is a Christian community over sixteen hundred strong. Though we are diverse in background and outlook, we are united in a common commitment to Christ and a shared vision of ministry to all God's People.

The United Methodist Church is a "mainstream" Protestant church which holds to the central teachings of the Christian faith, while encompassing a good deal of latitude in individual understandings and expressions of faith. We encourage each person to continue growing in faith within the fellowship created by Christ's love for us and our love for one another.

Our Mission

The United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay is an open community of people committed to fulfilling the Great Commandment and the Great Commission

  • "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." ~ Matthew 22:37

  • Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you." ~ Matthew 28:19-20a

Our Vision

To assist people to become deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ

LOVE God

SERVE in the world

Our Values

As members of this

church, we:

INVITE others to share our joy and worship.
CELEBRATE God's grace through our worship, fine arts, and sharing with the community.
CARE for each other as a church body and as a community accepting the differences of other members in their faith journeys and outlook.
GROW Disciples, grounded in Scripture and centered on Christ.
SERVE as the hands of Jesus Christ in humble service to all his people.

We Believe in:

God the Father as seen in the Old Testament.
God the Son, Jesus, as seen in the New Testament.
God the Holy Spirit as comfort, guide, strength and presence.
Repentance, forgiveness and new life as the cycles of life's spiritual journey.
Sacraments of baptism and communion as signs of God's grace.
The Church Universal as the body of Christ, God's ministry in and to the world.
The kingdom of God, experienced in part on the earth and in fullness in heaven.

Prayer- Spend intentional time with God.
Study- Continue to learn more of what it means to be a Christian, applying this learning to daily life.
Fellowship - Participate in one or more small groups or activities to meet and make Christian friends and support one another.
Service - Share our spiritual gifts, time and talents for the work of Christ and his church, in both the congregation and the community.
Giving - Follow the Biblical teachings of Jesus of proportionate giving, towards the goal of tithing (giving one-tenth) for the work of Christ and his church.
Outreach - Reach out to persons who have no church home through prayer, friendship, and personal invitation to  visit our church. Also reach out to persons in need of compassion, justice and acceptance regardless of their religion or race, both in our community and around the world.

  Covenant Prayer

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, wrote this Covenant Prayer
as he daily offered himself to God and make himself available
to be used by God for service in the world.

I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee,
exalted for thee or brought low for thee.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things
to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine, So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
Let it be ratified in heaven. Amen

An invitation: We invite you to commit this prayer to your daily prayer life and memory
as you seek to give yourself wholly to God.
