Prayer Ministry |
|
|
|
|
The
on-going Prayer Ministry of our congregation includes weekly prayer
petitions in worship, and a prayer ministry team that prays for
particular needs of the congregation.
The Prayer Ministry supports and encourages church members to
develop a prayer life and is available to anyone seeking to
strengthen his or her prayer life or to develop new prayer groups. |

NEW Prayer
Labyrinth
|
We have
a newly installed prayer labyrinth in the lower level of our
building. This eleven circuit labyrinth is similar to the labyrinth
in the Chartres Cathedral near Paris, France, which was built around
1200. It is available the first Friday of every month, prior to and
following the monthly Taize service which takes place at 7:30 p.m.
Other open hours are announced.

Prayer Chains
|
On a weekly
basis prayer concerns and celebrations are shared with a number of
members of the congregation who form a prayer chain, for their
prayer support during the week. You may fill out a prayer request
card during worship, and be assured that prayers will continue
during the week. |
|
|
|
Prayer Groups
|
We have a
regular prayer group of faithful prayers who gather together for
prayer for concerns of the life of our congregation, on a regular
basis. |

The Upper Room
|
The "Upper Room"
is a quiet, private place to pray for the needs of members and
friends of the congregation. It is open for prayer any time the
building is open. This small room, located in the hall to the north
of the sanctuary, has an altar, a comfortable overstuffed chair with
a prayer shawl, prayer resources, a basket of prayer requests, and
other items that make it a space conducive to individual prayer.
Feel free to walk into the room to pray any time you find the door
open; stay as long as you wish. |

|
Chapel Prayer
|
Our chapel is
open to individuals or groups for prayer during the week. Often
persons find that time spent there prior to or following worship or
meetings, or just in the middle of the day, can be a refreshing
opportunity. Though the chapel is often used for established groups,
there are many times when it is available. You may want to consult
the church calendar to be sure that there is nothing scheduled at
the time you want to stop by. |

Taize Prayer Service 1st Friday of the month
7:30 pm, Sanctuary |
Our monthly
Taize worship service is a wonderful opportunity for experiencing
prayer in the midst of Christian community. This simple service of
prayers and singing is a meditative time which includes reflective
music, conducive to prayer. |

|
The Buxton Memorial Woodland Garden |
A delightful
spot for meditation and prayer available to anyone. Though this
garden is most enjoyable in the spring and summer months, you may
also enjoy a time of solitude there as you walk or sit on the bench
under the canopy of tree branches. Information about the woodland
plantings is available as well. |

|
Praying Children |
Our prayer
ministry currently includes prayer opportunities for our children to
learn more about and practice prayer on a weekly basis. Feel free to
speak with
Richard Whitaker
about these opportunities |
