JOIN US FOR AN AWESOME TIME AT CHURCH CAMP THIS SUMMER!

June 13-16, 2010

Summer Camp builds friendships and allows the youth and adults in our community to come together for a few days of fun and fellowship.  Camp Lucerne, located two hours northwest of Milwaukee, provides an ideal lakeside setting for summer camp.

Youth going into 3rd through 8th grades have a wonderful opportunity to grow in their faith and have an AWESOME time!   Daytime camp activities are divided by grade level (grades 3-5 and 6-8), but everyone enjoys meals and evening campfire together.

This year’s camp theme is “Be a Hero: Living Like Jesus”.  Through small group activities, song, crafts and devotions, campers will leave knowing that it takes more courage and faith to be one of God's heroes, than it takes to simply leap off tall buildings in a single bound.

Will you join us this summer?   Everyone is welcome, whether or not you are a

church member.  To register, please complete the registration form and

medical permission form and return them by April 11 to Lisa Lyons,

c/o United Methodist Church, 819 E. Silver Spring Drive, WFB, WI 53217.

Here’s the
list of stuff to pack.

We also need counselors for camp

If you are an adult interested in serving as a counselor this summer, please contact Lisa Lyons at 312-1767 or lalyons@wi.rr.com.

If you are in high school, and would like to be a junior counselor, please fill out the application and return it to Melissa Swanson.

What will campers be doing at camp?

Campers will have a traditional camp experience including living in cabins, doing crafts, swimming and boating, playing capture the flag, soccer and other group games, and enjoying songs and s 'mores around the campfire.  This is combined with activities, devotions, speakers and small group bible activities exploring and celebrating our Christian faith.

Who can participate?

Students entering grades 3-8 in Fall 2010 can attend this camp.  UMCWFB also has a separate high school camp- contact Lori Aeschbacher for information on HS camp.

What are the living accommodations like?

Campers sleep in traditional cabins with beds and electricity.  Campers bring sleeping bags or sheets and blankets.  Cabins for the youngest children have bathrooms.  Most campers will use separate bathhouses with showers and toilets.  Children understand that counselors escort them to the restrooms during the night as needed.

Dates and transportation

Sunday June 13 - families will drop off kids at camp around 4:30.

Wednesday June 16 - counselors and volunteer parents drive kids back to church around 4:30

Who do I contact about registration?

Lisa Lyons at (414)312-1767 or lalyons@wi.rr.com

Are campers supervised?

Camp is highly supervised.  Cabins are segregated by gender and grade, and each cabin of 4-10 campers has at least one adult counselor and one high school or college counselor.  Camp Lucerne has a full-time resident professional staff to provide medical assistance, waterfront safety, and assure the camp is safe at all times.

What is the food like?

Camp Lucerne has a full time kitchen staff and spacious dining room.  Meals are typical camp fare such as pancakes, fruit and sausage for breakfast, pizza for lunch, and burgers for dinner.  Special dietary needs can be accommodated.

What is the camper fee?

$195 for church members, and $215 for non-members.  The cost of the camp should not be a reason to prevent your child from attending.  Scholarships are available.

Got a question not on the list?  Don't hesitate to contact

one of the camp directors or the director of youth ministries (see left).
