This ecumenical school, housed at The United Methodist Church of
Whitefish Bay, is open to all persons in the area who are age 50 or
better. Classes are offered 24 weeks of the year. A fall semester,
consisting of two six-week terms, begins in September. A winter
semester begins in January, also with two six-week terms. Classes
meet on Mondays and Tuesdays, and cover such subject areas as
computers, art, languages, literature, and computer events. A
reasonable tuition is charged.
Founded in January 2001, the North
Shore School for Seniors
has now completed six years of operation. During the years it has
grown to an enrollment in 2006-07 of 1,232 students who attended 124
courses taught by 70 volunteer teachers, including 11 with doctoral
degrees.
