CONFIRMATION PROGRAM |
Confirmation is an optional two-year program to
prepare youth for becoming members of our Congregation. It is one
step in a life-long journey of following Christ!
The Confirmation program is divided by grade,
meaning there is a 7th Grade class and an 8th Grade class, each with
it's own set of teachers. We use a small group approach to
Confirmation. Class begins with a gathering time where
students can share a snack and just have a little fellowship
together. There is a brief "lecture" time where a lesson is
presented--either by one of the teachers, by a pastor, or other
guest speaker. Then youth break up into small groups to have
discussion time. This allows for students to have more
personal attention from their leaders, to dive deeper into the
Bible, and to form closer relationships with other students.
Throughout the two years of Confirmation,
students cover a wide range of topics. We examine our history
and origins as Christians, the Methodist tradition, and what it means to
be a follower of Christ. We
talk about the meaning of the events in the year of the church as
well as the Sacraments: Advent, Lent, Pentecost, Epiphany,
Baptism, Communion, etc. We learn about what it means to be an
active member of the Church, and cover topics like worship, prayer,
tithing, and service. By the end of two years, students should
be well prepared to step into the next part of their faith journey
as active members of the congregation! It's truly an exciting
time!

WORSHIP REPORTS |
Worship is one of the main ways that we experience
God. Worship is a huge component of the Confirmation program.
We discuss topics that are preached about on Sunday mornings, and we
encourage youth to be active in worship as they prepare to become
members of the church. To encourage worship attendance, we ask
that Confirmands fill out worship reports throughout the year.
This isn't a homework assignment, rather a tool to help youth
understand the worship services as well as apply them to their own
lives. Click here for
a worship report form. |
