Open Door Gallery

"Behold, I have set before you an open door." Rev. 3:8

"If I were called to define briefly the word 'art,' I should call it reproduction of what the senses perceive as nature, seen through the veil of the soul."

-Paul Cezanne

Located in the Walnut Room, the Open Door Gallery was established in 2005 and takes its name from the welcoming tradition of the United Methodist Church - Open hearts, Open minds, Open doors.  The purpose of the gallery is two-fold, both to enrich the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay and the general community with changing exhibits that give glory to God, and to encourage artists by providing a space to display their work.

Contact Neil Bubke, Sandy Kochan or JoAnn Mortonson for more information.

April 3 - May 14    St. John's Bible exhibit on display

One of the three traveling exhibits of the St. John's Bible Project is currently on exhibit in the Open Door Gallery.. The St John's Bible is the first handwritten, illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine Abbey in over 500 years. This display has traveled internationally, and the prints feature portions of the handwritten calligraphy and the stunning artworks that were chosen as illumination of the text. Smithsonian Magazine has called this once in a millennium endeavor "One of the extraordinary undertakings of our time". The display will be on view in the Open Door Gallery located in the Walnut Room from April 3 to May 14, 2012. Hours for the gallery are Monday -- Friday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. and Sunday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
