Meet our Lay Leaders:
Tony Mortellaro
, Lois
Goldberg, Lisa Swartzmiller and Dan Yunk
What do
they do?
The lay leaders meet monthly
with the pastoral staff and some program staff. They share
insights from congregational members regarding programs and
ministries of the church. They share questions congregational
members have about ministries and programs of the church. They
give their insight and reflection to past, current and future
ministries.
How do I
get to know a lay leader?
Our lay leaders will now have
yellow name tags. Look for them on Sunday mornings. Also, on
Nov. 9, some of them will be available in the Walnut Room from
10 – 10:30 a.m. to chat with you.
How are lay
leaders chosen?
Lay Leaders are nominated by
the Committee on Lay Leadership to the Church Conference. They
are elected at the Church Conference. Our annual Church
Conference is held in May of each year. The lay leaders serve
on the Committee on Lay Leadership and the Church Council. One
lay leader is also an ex-officio member of Staff/Parish and
another of the Advisory Team.
Who can
become a lay leader?
Any member of the congregation
who models discipleship through the practices of worship
attendance, giving, participation in a small group, and service
can be considered. There is attention given to having lay
leaders represent different dimensions of our congregational
life. Generally a church has as many lay leaders as there are
pastors. In our case, four. The lay leaders are elected for a
three year period. |
