TIPS:

Over the last few weeks there have been a significant number of parking tickets issued around the church.  I spoke with the Village of Whitefish Bay Police Department and they have been very cooperative. Many of you who received tickets will be receiving a letter to disregard your parking ticket.  If you do not receive a letter and feel that your ticket was not appropriate, please stop by the Village Hall.  Following are the guidelines that are good reminders for all of us and helpful for you to share with members and guests of your ministries.

You are not allowed to park where there are "No Parking" signs on Silver Spring Drive.  There are two signs east of the church near the bend on Lake Drive.  There is also a no parking sign just east of our church building that is designated for a short strip of curb.  Also, do not park in the loading zone.  This may be tempting, but it makes it difficult for persons to drop passengers off.  This zone has been temporarily expanded.  There are signs to designate this space.  If the expanded zone seems adequate, we apply to the State (we are on a state highway) and to the Village for this to become permanent.  Please do not park in front of driveways.  Also, note the time restrictions on parking.

There is a 15 minute parking zone indicated by signs south of the building to Glen Ave.  This is enforced periodically by the Village.  The ordinance of the Village indicates this area begins 55 ft south of Silver Spring.  However, the sign indicating this has been removed.  This will not be enforced as a 15 minute parking zone until the sign is replaced.  Also, there is a driveway on Danbury.  Please do not block the driveway.

The members of the church have been very gracious and generous in letting us use their lot.  Here are a couple of reminders.  We are not allowed to park in the lot on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.  We also are not to park in spaces that are marked, “Reading Room.”  We also cannot park in the western two rows of the lot.  These rows are designated with “For Municipal Use Only.”

Parking is not always easy, but with some planning it does work and we can be good neighbors to those who live around the church.  I would offer the following tips:

1)  If you are able, park as far away as possible.  It will be good for your health and it will help give spaces closer to the church for those with mobility issues, carrying young children and their gear, and our guests.

2) On Sunday mornings you can park behind Winkies and behind the Equitable Bank building as well as village streets.

3) During the winter months we have persons at the Silver Spring doors on Sunday mornings to help passengers from cars into the church.  If you would like this to continue all year and to help with this, let Pastor Steve know.

4) If you are interested in forming a shuttle ministry from the Park and Ride on Port Road and Silver Spring, let Pastor Steve know.

I hope these reminders are helpful.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Together in ministry,

Pastor Susan
